Just like how states should balance their budgets and provide public education jails should be required to have a system in place to help convicts join society and not return to jail. How do we expect criminals to succeed if we don’t help them learn about other ways to make a living other than selling drugs, stealing cars, and robbing stores?
I firmly believe it should be mandatory for jails to provide some form of job training and placement program. Furthermore, these jails should be evaluated on how many of their inmates find and keep jobs after leaving.
