Illegalize the stench of for-profit jails. Why would we have money starved corporate tycoons meddling in the pits of the lost and reviled? Now it might seem like a beautiful little picnic. They deserve each other we one could say. Frankly, that is bullocks. Corporate frenzied avarice is not going to help our lost and corrupt. It will and is like bringing dynamite to a birthday party. Everyone is having fun till someone gets blown up. Now, let’s just take a second look how stupid of an idea this is for the American people.
The Profit Motive
Wouldn’t it be in the best interest of the jail to increase its profits thus appeasing it’s money hungry investors? One easy way to do this is to lobby Congress for more subsidies while minimizing costs. Additionally, it is in the best interest of the for-profit jails to make sure inmates either don’t leave or that they end up back in prison within a short period of time. Each inmate is more money from the government. In the profit game it is all about increasing your revenues (more inmates) and decreasing your costs (less guards and rehabilitation). The jails throughout our country cause financial hardship for a local governments and a sense of tension with our communities. People are angry that felons are getting meals and a roof over their heads when law abiding citizens can barely pay their mortgage. There is a way to solve these problems.
